A native of Columbia, Missouri, Novia relocated to Texas in 1997 after graduating from Missouri State University with a B.S. in Sports Medicine & Athletic Training. In 2012, having spent the previous eleven years running half-marathons, she made the transition from running to multisport as a way to honor her running coach, USA Pro Triathlete Diane Proud, who lost her battle with Lou Gehrig’s disease in the fall of 2011. Five years, several races, three bikes, three countries, ten states, thousands of miles, countless CR2032 batteries and a whole lot of new friends later, she’s still racing. A four-time Half-Ironman (70.3) finisher, Novia also qualified for the USA Triathlon Age Group National Championships in 2015 and 2016.
She’s a mid-pack triathlete who drives way too fast, appreciates a good nap and finds her sanity in creative writing. She prefers the suburbs to the city, paper over plastic and Journey was her favorite band as a kid. Although she’s been to Vegas four times, she can't tell you what happened, because of that whole "what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas" thing. Her favorite food is whatever you’re cooking and her place of peace is found in quiet times with close friends.
Novia resides in Dallas, TX where she works for a global research company.
